I've been sharing insights into my oral care routine (which have definitely evolved) over the last decade or so. Check out the newest items I found out about and had to try and share about!

I'm not new to oral probiotics in the sense that I used to take a scoop and keep it in my mouth and let it sit there as long as it could - but let me tell you, the tablet form is so much better than a lump of powder! I found two brands to try, Biocidin and Superteeth, both highly recommended.

Dentalflora oral probiotics (by Biocidin) - This was the first of the two that I tried. It was hard and didn't taste great, although I have to admit the taste grew on me (as I made myself finish the bottle)! I actually like that it was harder in a way that I was able to keep the probiotics in my mouth longer, which is the point here, haha. The probiotic strains in this one are: Streptococcus salivarius M18 (BLIS M18®), Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus salivarius, and Lactobacillus reuteri. Along with xylitol, the other ingredients are: Spearmint leaf extract, Inulin, Stearic acid, Hydroxypropyl cellulose, Spearmint flavor. It's ideal to take 30 minutes before or after brushing, rinsing, eating, drinking, etc... I'd just set a timer after I brushed my teeth and kept them on my nightstand!

Superteeth probiotics - These ones taste great! I like that I can bite them relatively fast and just leave the material to sit in my teeth. My friend, Dr. Jen has an awesome interview with the founder, too!

Biocidicin tooothpaste and liposomal rinse - I really liked the liposomal rinse. My teeth definitely felt clean after swishing. Here's the ingredient list:

Biocidin® (Vegetable glycerin, Bilberry fruit extract, Grape seed extract, Shiitake mushroom extract, Goldenseal root, Noni fruit extract, Garlic bulb, White willow bark, Milk thistle seed, Echinacea purpurea herb extract, Echinacea angustifolia root, Raspberry fruit, Black walnut hull, Black walnut leaf, Lavender oil, Oregano oil, Galbanum oil, Tea Tree oil, Fumitory aerial parts extract, Gentian lutea root) Myrrh resin, Clove bud oil, Peppermint leaf oil, Quercetin, CoQ10 (ubiquinone) Other Ingredients: Purified water, phospholipids (from sunflower seed lecithin), ethanol (sourced from sugar cane), tocofersolan, acacia gum, natural mixed tocopherols

As for the toothpaste, I was definitely surprised by the color. I particularly like the minty fresh feeling after brushing and didn't necessarily get that with this, but I used the whole tube! I tried their oral microbiome toothpaste and really like the unique list of ingredients:

Sorbitol, Water, Biocidin® (Bilberry fruit extract, Grape seed extract, Shiitake mushroom extract, Goldenseal root, Noni fruit extract, Garlic bulb, White willow bark, Milk thistle seed, Raspberry fruit, Echinacea purpurea plant extract, Echinacea angustifolia root, Black walnut hull, Black walnut leaf, Lavender oil, Oregano oil, Galbanum oil, Tea tree oil, Fumitory aerial parts extract, Gentian lutea root), Vegetable glycerin, Hydrated silica, Sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, Tocopherol, Natural organic flavor, Cellulose gum, Peppermint oil, Aloe, Cinnamon oil, Tangerine fruit extract, Bitter orange fruit extract, Sweet orange peel extract, Ascorbic acid, Citric acid, Lactic acid, Clove oil, Tea tree oil

These two items make up their Two-Step Dentaceutical Solution:

  • Part 1: Brush

  • Part 2: Rinse - they recommend 2 pumps, swishing for 1-2 mins, and then spitting it out. I found I needed to use many more pumps to feel like I actually had something to swish with so I definitely went through this little bottle fast!

Since I bought this, it looks like they've added a remineralizing toothpaste that I might have to try out, too!

I think I've shared about the regular Curaprox here before (pictured above) but decided to try the velvet edition which I can only find in a singular pack (the others come in a pack of three). When I tried the original, I was amazed at how the brushes nestled in around my teeth. When I first tried the velvet, I honestly thought it was too soft and was kind of thinking okay, this is good because the regular ones are much less expensive. I had all intentions of going back to the original but as I kept using the velvet, I found I liked it more and more and more, lol! So, after I finish off the rest of the original pack, it's velvet only for me now! These toothbrushes are from Switzerland and the original has 5,460 bristles compared to the velvet with more than double that amount with 12,460!

Elementa - I found out about this brand from Dr. Clayton @restoration.dentistry. His approach and thoughtfulness about the oral cavity and cavities in general made so much sense! He uses this in his practice and shares how cavities are preventable and curable (his words, not mine). I tried out as much of their line as I could get my hands on and for enough time to really get a good sense of it. I even tried their kids bubblegum flavor of toothpaste and mouthwash.

I reached out to them for a list of their ingredients and they said it's only: water, xylitol, calcium acetate, nano silver, and natural flavoring. The honey sweet doesn't have natural flavor so maybe I'll have to try that one when it's in stock!

Mouthwash - Honestly, when I first tried the mint rinse, I didn't really like the flavor but it quickly grew on me. It is a light brownish color (like what's on the label) but I just wasn't expecting that! The bubblegum mouthwash on the other hand was so good - I can't even believe I'm saying that because I am not a fan of bubblegum flavored things typically! I would purchase both flavors again, but I don't know that I'd go the route of getting the refills just because the outside of the bottle got hard and crusty over time so I'd just rather get a new one, but that's just me and it's nice they have a refillable option! I definitely spilled pouring the rinse into the lid which doesn't lend itself kindly to being poured into our out of.

Toothpaste - I feel like I went through the tubes faster than I should have because the paste kind of just stayed in a glob and I had to try and chase it around in my mouth with my toothbrush. Flavor is similar to the rinses, respectively but very mild. My hubby doesn't like that they don't foam, which isn't a deal breaker for me but I need to be able to move it around my mouth easier (so I used more...much more than usual). The picture below is one application and I would do this at least twice, sometimes three times.

Dental mints - I like these and the idea of them. They are tasty, but the containers aren't designed to hold super tight--I lost most of the bottle to the inside of my purse!
