"Natural" Mascara Review

Updated: Feb 16

I have natural in quotes because well, it really means nothing when it comes to beauty products (or food, for that matter). But, that being said, I tried out a handful of the more "natural" mascaras that I could find. It's actually really rare that I even wear makeup, but I do like to have some on hand for special occasions or for when I just feel like it.

There were four brands that I tried out: Ilia Beauty (limitless lash), Erin's Faces (matcha mascara), Beauty Care Naturals (lengthening), and Living Libations (raven maven). I didn't start out with the idea I'd be doing a review...but after trying them all out, I wished I'd read a comparison of them before I purchased one! Please note, this is just my personal experience I am sharing. I am not affiliated with any of these brands. In the blink of an eye, let's get started (lol, I can't help myself).

Ilia Beauty (limitless lash) - This one did give me (minor) crumbles, but I have a tendency to rub my eyes, so, there's that. It isn't water proof but listed as water resistant and for how much I cry, I thought it did a pretty good job at not running down my entire face, but it did smear some. Unfortunately, my skin was sensitive to it and I could only wear a couple hours or so without the skin around my eyes getting irritated. This one came highly recommended to me and I've heard it works great for a lot of people!

Erin's Faces (matcha mascara) - It was so refreshing to have a mascara that did not irritate my eyes! This one seems to crumble some (when I rub) and runs (a little) when I cry. What I love about it though, is that as long as I know to check, it rubs off of my skin almost effortlessly! I purchased a bottle for my mom, too. Her skin is hypersensitive and she can use this mascara with no issues (that is huge)!

Beauty Care Naturals (lengthening) - The color options included brown and black, so I actually tried the brown. It's nice to be able to switch it up a bit. This one does not seem to crumble and wipes off relatively easily (I may need to add a little water or let's be honest, spit) to get the areas that run or smudge, but it is very minimal. I like that it is water resistant yet does not irritate my skin. I'd like to try their black, next time!

Living Libations (raven maven) - To be honest, I don't even know why I bought this one. I already had a black and brown that I liked, but I think I got an ad and it was on sale (ya feel me?). But, I gotta say, I am glad I did! I have not experienced this one smudging or running much at all, even after crying - and if it does, I can wipe it off with my finger easily. It actually feels nice on my lashes and like they can breathe (lol, I know, that's weird, but it's the truth). The tube it comes in is glass which is something I've never experienced before, and even though the applicator doesn't look like anything special, it is! I don't know how, but it just seems to go on better for me than any others I've tried.

I think I stumbled on four really great options, but hopefully you find this helpful when choosing one! If you have any recommendations for other mascaras I need to try, feel free to leave a comment below or reach out to me on Instagram.

Also, to address this, yes, I cry a lot, but I have tears of joy, too! As always, #GetSatiated.
