Introducing The Quarantonic (A Tonic For Our Current Time)
Everyday stress is always there. But now, now it's a little different. Even if I try to shield myself from being saturated with the news, I am still bombarded with charged information. I think you know what I'm talking about!
I do lots of things to try and support my healthy stress response...getting enough sleep, exercising, praying, eating healthy, talking with my loved ones, and doing my best to try and have fun (that last one is the hardest--if you know me, you know this is true, haha!). However, one addition I have been trying to turn into a daily habit is making an afternoon adrenal tonic (renamed, quarantonic). Around 3pm some days I start getting sleepy, like I could take a nice afternoon nap. Anyone else feel me? This tonic has been helping to support me and I'm more energized afterwards! Not to mention, it is jam-packed with Vitamin C from all the citrus I use!
Here's how I make it:
- 1tbsp Celtic or Icelandic salt
- 4 organic mandarins
- 1 organic lemon
- 1-2 organic oranges (depending on size)
- 1 knuckle of organic ginger root or 2tsp freeze-dried ginger powder
- 2 organic bananas
I peel the fruit & ginger, add just enough water in the bottom of the blender for it to blend (approx. half a cup). Enjoy!
*Makes about 4 servings, you can add cinnamon, coconut oil, coconut butter, or collagen. Or, I'll sub a grapefruit for the orange or mandarins. I tend to switch it up from time to time and depending what's on hand.
The bananas were added by happenstance. One day I was out of mandarins and wanted something else to add in, so I threw in the bananas and voila! It made the tonic so creamy!
