ginger leaves in pot

At the Ann Arbor Farmer's Market we found fresh ginger - with the leaves attached! The farmer shared with us that we could use the leaves for tea. I didn't even know ginger had leaves until seeing it freshly cut like this. Of course, I've made "tea" out of fresh cut (and freeze-dried) ginger many times, but this was a first!

How I Made Ginger Leaf Tea:

It was pretty simple. I pulled off a few leaves and dropped them in some boiling water in my favorite pot (affiliate code: SATIATEDBLONDE). After a few minutes, I strained it out and was surprised by how much the pure ginger flavor came through from the leaves alone! We used some of the fresh ginger cooking throughout the week and froze some that I've been enjoying in my electrolyte smoothie recently. (post coming soon)

Have you ever had ginger this fresh? Have you tried growing it yourself? I want to try that next. Keep up with what I'm doing in my stories.
