Walking a lot and wearing linen dresses, I quickly learned how much I needed shorts underneath -- partly because I move a lot, squat, stretch, etc... so it's just more appropriate, but also because having shorts under my dresses and jumpsuits are so much more comfortable! I did a whole post on my base layers that mostly focuses on cotton under layers I found. I mentioned these shorts on that post, but I wanted to do a deep dive into the Thigh Society brand a little more after having some extra time to try them out!
On their site, Thigh Society says,
"These multipurpose shorties stay put, hug your curves, keep you dry, give you freedom of movement and just make life easier.”
Is that my experience? Keep reading to find out!
They make several slip short options - meaning they aren't shorts I'd wear alone (although some are definitely less sheer). They are made ideally to wear under clothing and can be worn with our without underwear. One thing I really like about them is that they are NOT shape wear so they're not compressive (which is very important to me - I like to be free and totally unrestricted in my clothing (and life, lol). All of their shorts have four-way stretch and I've tried three of the five styles - read my notes below!
The Cooling
These shorts are sheer and are designed to cool by up to one degree. I got them in the color indigo and it's so pretty! As you can tell in the picture, they are very thin. They are super comfortable. I got them in the 5" length. They definitely feel light and I don't even realize I'm wearing them when they're on!
The Staple
These are semi-sheer and buttery soft. I got these in the 5" indigo as well. What can I say, I really like that color! These seem longer than the cooling (it's probably just me) but what I really like is that they can shimmy up and still feel comfortable if I want them a little shorter.
The Cotton
Like The Staple, these are also semi-sheer, but definitely seem more on the opaque side than The Staple. I got these in the color Chambray in 9". The length works great for me when I'm wearing long linen dresses, but is a little too long for what I prefer to wear with my jumpsuits, and these don't scrunch up as easily as The Staple. But, I do love that they're made with pima cotton (and a small percentage of modal, with a little nylon and spandex). If you want to read about 100% cotton shorts I've tried, check this post. Don't look too close at my leg hair, I needed to shave, lol.
The Original
These are made from: 50% Sensil® Breeze nylon, 37% nylon, 12% elastane, 1% cotton and what makes them really unique is that they CAN be worn under clothing or over! They're opaque and versatile and they say they're the most like a bike short (which I'll need to try out soon - if you want to read about my biking adventures, check out this post post coming soon). They're available in five, seven, and nine inches. I think the seven inch one would be perfect for a bike short and I look forward to filling in more details for you when I get a chance to try those ones, too!
The Cargo
These are just like The Original (made out of the same materials) but they have a pocket. I love a good pocket to stay hands-free. I'll have to pick up a pair of these for my bike riding adventures, too!
Overall, I've found them to be true to size, just be sure to check their size chart for reference! I wash them in a laundry bag on delicate and it's worked well for me so far. If you want to read more about how I do laundry, check out this post.
As much as I love The Cotton since it's made of more natural fabric (you know I'm all about that), if I had to pick a favorite so far, it would be The Cooling. I just love everything about it and look forward to try another color. Let me know which ones you have tried (or look forward to trying) and what your favorites are in the comments. Keep up with what I'm trying out in my stories.
