In Toledo, there's the Middle East Market, next to Sidon Lebanese Bakery and Grille. We had lunch there and then popped in the market. My husband really enjoyed his lunch at Sidon! Grocery shopping, especially specialty grocery shopping is one of our favorite things to do: from H-Mart to Patel Brothers, and everything in between! We took our time asking questions about the baked goods which looked delicious and picked some up for my hubby and his parents! We were pleasantly surprised to find some new items and some brands we're familiar with!
Here are some fun things we found:
Malouf quince preserves - so flavorful
Za'tar mix - this goes great atop hummus!
Mymoune 3 citrus marmalade - we actually picked up some of their products on the Olive Harvest website where we found out about them - well, from Milk Street to Malouf/Olive Harvest where we found this brand, so fun!
Nburan honey with nuts
Mymoune mulberry syrup
Olive harvest EVOO - We're almost certain this is the specialty Malouf Olive Oil well loved by Milk Street Kitchen that we've actually ordered before! Here's what they have to say on their site about it:
"Stone-milled exclusively from a single grove of small, slender Souri olives grown in North Lebanon, Maalouf's early-harvest oil possesses a potent green-yellow color and a buttery, rich flavor with hints of green apple and artichoke. It has a subtle peppery kick and addictively long, nutty finish. This is truly an all-purpose, extra-virgin olive oil without the overpowering bitterness that mars many other brands. We have a very limited inventory of this small-batch oil; once we're sold out, we can't get more until next year's olive harvest."
It's so fun finding new-to-us brands from around the world that use real ingredients, as well as being reminded of brands we're familiar with! Make sure you're following my stories for the next place we go visit!
