Hello, friends! Thanks for being here with me. Let’s start with one of my new favorite recipes…but this one’s for the birds! Seriously!
My husband and I were gifted a suet-style bird feeder. I wasn’t familiar with this kind, but thought it was so cool. I read the ingredients in the pre-packaged suet and thought, when this is gone, I can totally make my own…and that’s what I did!
Recipe:
Directions:
Mix the oats, cornmeal, flour, & eggshells. Add in the peanut butter & stir until crumbly. Pour in the suet (it may be warm), but reserve approximately 1 tbsp. Stir and press into a square container (plastic works best here). Press in nuts/seeds/birdseed on top and seal with a dab of the reserved fat. Freeze for approximately 2 hours. Turn over & pop out. Put in feeder.
It may melt when put out in warmer temps. However, it was in the 70s when I first put this out and it completely disappeared by the next morning. I guess the birds like organic eats, too!
Oh, and I have to add - Low/NO PUFAs are a thing - but it's still so hard throwing out your cupboard-full, so this is a great way to get those items out of the house without them going to waste, and supporting the local wildlife at the same time! I linked the reel I made on IG if you want a quick overview here.
Let me know if you give this a try. As always, #getsatiated
